GOOLWA BARRAGE OPEN
In great news for boaties, the South Australian Water Minister, Paul Caica has annouched the reopening of the Goolwa Barrage.
Mr Caica said “The water level in the Goolwa channel has increased to 30cm above sea level principally due to flows from the Finniss River and Currency Creek and at this water level we are able to introduce a restricted lockage program without large volumes of sea water entering the Channel,’’ he said.
“The resumption of restricted lock operations is excellent news for both commercial and recreational boat operators, who have not been able to pass through the Goolwa Barrage since April this year because of low water levels."
"It is hoped that water levels in the Goolwa Channel will continue to rise to reach at least 50cm above sea level by mid-September this year, at which point normal lock operations will be introduced.’’
The schedule for lockages is:
| Monday | 9.00am | 12.30pm | 4.30pm |
